Abstract:
BCIs emerged few decades ago as a new communication procedure, allowing subjects with severe neuromuscular disorders, who may be completely paralyzed or locked-in, to communicate. A Brain-computer Interface extracts and classifies the cerebral activity to provide a non – muscular channel for the transmission of messages and commands to the external world. Despite the original purpose of this technology, its use is now extended to totally different areas, such as entertainment, security, cognitive-workload measurers and Ambient Assisted Living (AAL).
Audience:
This seminar (in Spanish) is intended for researchers interested in this multidisciplinary technology as well as for PhD students of programs related to electronics, biosignals processing or neuroengineering.

Biosketch:
Currently, Dr. Eng. Miguel Angel López is lecturer at the Dep. of Computer Architecture& Computer Technology, School of Engineering, University of Cadiz. Since 2006, he researches in the BCI-Lab of the Dep. of Computer Architecture& Computer Technology, University of Granada. He focuses his research on the design and adaptation of psycho-physiological paradigms to optimize the performance (i.e. bandwidth and accuracy) of BCI applications. Now he is involved in a project aimed to obtain a wearable Neuro-platform of biosignals recording.
