SUMMARY:Conferencia "Using music learning to improve education – How and why does it work?"
What is the role of music learning and education in the 21st century? It appears that the preoccupation with symbolic power of music as a societal expression of ‘high art’ has casted long shadows over the nearly infinite potentials of music to positively influence individual development\, wellbeing and quality of life in the general population. A wide range of evidence from interdisciplinary research on the psychophysiological\, cognitive\, and social effects of music over the past decades suggests that music learning can contribute in numerous ways to educational success. Although the direct implications of this hypothesis have not yet been fully explored\, there is sufficient reason to rethink the philosophy and societal value of music learning and education for the present and future generations.\n\n\nOrganiza: Programa de Doctorado en Ciencias de la Educación\, con la colaboración del Departamento de Didáctica de la Expresión Musical\, Plástica y Corporal.\nMás información: José Luis Aróstegui Plaza.
