SUMMARY:Conferencia: "Music research objectives\, experiments\, data\, analysis\, and applications"
DESCRIPTION:Actividad enmarcada en el Ciclo de Conferencias «Estadística y Ciencia de Datos Patricia Román»\, imaprtida por Marc Leman (Dept. Musicology\, IPEM\, Ghent University). \nResumen: Music research aims at understanding the effects of music on humans. Concepts for generating the proper research questions are based on theories of embodiment\, predictive brain processing\, and social expression. Methods are based on measurements of audio\, body movement\, body sensing\, and EEG\, using AR/VR/XR technologies as supplementary tools. In our new «Art and science interaction lab» (ASIL)\, these measurements are synchronized allowing the study of human interaction with music at high temporal and spatial resolution. Advanced analysis techniques are needed for understanding correlations in multimedia-multimodal-multivariate time series. Ultimately our goal is to develop music-based (brain-based) biofeedback systems in the domains of art\, physical therapy\, and sports. In my talk I will show several examples of behavioral and neuroscience research focusing on musical synchronization and rhythmic entrainment\, with biofeedback applications in the domain of sports and physiotherapy. \n\n\nFecha: Viernes\, 19 de Mayo de 2023\nLugar: Instituto de Matemáticas – Sala de Conferencias\nHorario: 12:00h\nOrganiza: IMAG – Instituto de Matemáticas\nMás información: enlace web IMAG
