- Resumen: In this talk, I will discuss the theoretical and practical aspects of a family of recently developed derivative-free globalized residual methods for solving large-scale vector and matrix nonlinear problems. I will pay special attention to the application of these low-cost methods for solving generalized eigenvalue problems, generalized Lyapunov and Sylvester matrix equations, and computing matrix $p$-th roots. For solving matrix equations I will also describe the so-called implicit preconditioning strategies.
